Our interview with the founder of 'Then I Met You' - Charlotte Cho

What inspired you to create your brand?
After six years of testing thousands of Korean beauty products for Soko Glam, I was ready to pour everything I had learned and experienced into Then I Met You. I was inspired to share about Korean beauty rituals and culture through innovative and sensorial formulations–to ultimately elevate your self care experience. I wrote about my entrepreneurial journey in the book, The Little Book of Jeong.

-What’s your morning/night routine?
"This is a difficult question because I'm testing so many new products! But my staples are always Living Cleansing Balm, Living Sea Cleansing Tonic and the Renewing Rich Beauty Cream. In between I'll use serums, masks that are suited for my skin goals. Lately I've been loving the IOPE Retinol Expert 0.1%, which is great paired with the Renewing Rich Beauty Cream to nourish the skin after the retinol treatment. It goes without say, that I always remember to use sunscreen at the end of my routine."
-What does a day in your life look like?
We're working on some really exciting projects, as Then I Met You will be in some physical retail stores internationally for the very first time (stay tuned!) Also, we have new launches coming up in February and in April, and we're developing a few new products, so our hands are pretty full right now!
-What is your ‘desert island’ product you couldn’t live without?
As a mom with limited time, I've been diving into the skin minimalism trend. I adore using the Living Sea Cleansing Tonic, because it is so multifunctional. I can use it to remove my makeup, I can use it as the second part of my double cleanse (after the Living Cleansing Balm), and it also double as a toner since you don't wash it off! With over 80% deep sea water, it has natural minerals and vitamins that my skin wouldn't want to wash off! It's a holy grail that I cannot live without!
-What piece of advice have you received that has been impactful to your skincare journey / business ?
I've been lucky to create Then I Met You from scratch, based on pure intentions. We're not a venture backed skin care company, pressured to launch products at a certain cadence or with certain obligations. I have launched only 1-2 products per year, focusing on what would really become a staple and holy grail in one's routine. Usually people comment that they know whatever Then I Met You launches, it will be high quality and effective in their skin care routine, and that is what they expect from the brand. That is the biggest compliment I could ever receive!
